Robert O. Briggs Memorial Festival

To give musicians an opportunity to honor Bob Briggs and his favorite concert band music, Solano Winds is hosting the Robert O. Briggs Memorial Festival.  On February 15, 2009, musicians will gather at the Fairfield Center for Creative Arts to rehearse a program of Bob’s favorites in the afternoon and perform it in the evening.  Proceeds from the performance will benefit the Robert O. Briggs Scholarship Endowment.

We have attracted current and past musicians from the Cal Band, Cal Band Alumni, Solano Winds, Armijo High School, and many other groups touched by Bob’s life, but there's still room for more players!  Musicians should register for the Festival before January 15 by visiting www.solanowinds.org .  A full program and list of conductors will be determined by the results of this registration.  If our instrumentation warrants it, we may create multiple bands for the event.

Exciting News !!   

We have commissioned  local composer Randy Biagi, a longtime associate of Bob’s, to compose a concert band work for the Festival.  That work, “Fantasia on Hail to California ”, will premiere with this Festival performance.

 

The rehearsal will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM, and the performance begins at 7:30 PM.  Tickets will be available through City Hall at the Mall (707-428-7714).
